What story I’m working on: Waking for Winter

What I’m editing/marketing: Finished editing Captivating Melody, and now I’m throwing my full attention on Rising for Autumn!

Line of the week:

God he wanted to kiss her. Years ago, he’d have just crossed the space between them and scooped her into his arms, claimed the sugar sweetness of her lips and dissolved into that comfort. Except now a cold distance like the streets out there in stark winter had settled between them. She wanted friendship, which he’d respect, but hell it burned him alive when she was so unwittingly sexy. When she was the only one who knew he was a secret neat freak. That he hated ketchup with a passion and snakes freaked him out.

He shot her a glare. “Like hell. You’re not prancing into potential danger without me.”

She stuck out her tongue. “Boo, I was hoping to get you off my ass for a couple minutes.”

audio Soul Solution

For Erik Anderson, the Copenhagen line is his curse. He takes the train every night to collect souls. Like any lovelorn fool, he bargained his own long ago, and now pays the price – a lifetime of loneliness as a grim reaper. Stay distant – that’s been his mantra and what keeps him sane. Until Mina Castner drops into his life like a whirlwind, one spilled drink leading to staying up until dawn with the woman.

He believed one night couldn’t hurt, but he sorely underestimated her determination. Every encounter between them is a reprieve from the guilt of reaping souls every night, but it can’t last. Even if she sparks long buried feelings, and even if her sheer presence intoxicates him, he can’t let this continue. For humans, his touch is poison, and if he slips up, it could cost her her life.
